Big Boulder Race Info

Big Boulder Logo

Big Boulder sits in the Poconos at Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania, putting it within comfortable reach of Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley and much of New Jersey. Mid-Atlantic Masters races a full-length slalom at Big Boulder! When we race at Big Boulder, the Incline Lodge is our base of operations. This lodge has a comfortable patio that looks directly up the race slope, so non-racing spectators can easily watch the race.

Racing at Big Boulder: Common Questions

Which trail do we race?

We race on the Big Boulder trail.

Do I need a lift ticket?

We price a discounted lift ticket into your race registration fee. If you have a season pass, we will deduct the cost of the lift ticket from your bill.

Where do I warm up, and how long is the lift ride?

Midway (immediately to skier's right of our race trail) is the recommended warm-up trail.

Where should I stay?

Lake Harmony, White Haven and Jim Thorpe are the nearest towns, and each have AirBnBs and hotel chains. You can also check the Big Boulder website for lodging recommendations.

Where do I find the start list and race schedule?

Start lists are posted on the Race Day Communications WhatsApp group. Timing and order of events are in the race information sheet that we will share via WhatsApp.

Is this a good venue for a first race?

Potentially, if you like slalom. We only race slalom at Big Boulder, so if you are a first-time racer, make sure you are comfortable with the tighter turns that are part of a slalom course. You might also consider using protective equipment for slalom (shin guards, chin guard, pole guards). Many racers love slalom, and Big Boulder has an excellent slalom hill, so if you do want to jump into a slalom course this is a great mountain for your first slalom experience.
