About Mid-Atlantic Masters

What is Masters Ski Racing?

Masters ski racing is the premier adult ski racing series in the country, governed by United States Ski & Snowboard competition rules, the sanctioning body in the US for organized ski racing at all levels from juniors up through international and Olympic competition.

Masters racing is designed for every level of skier ability, from entry level racers through ex-national team members. Masters racing provides the next step for up and coming accomplished skiers who are late bloomers, NASTAR and college racers, ski instructors, former professional racers and even ex-national team members.

Masters, from ages 18 to over 90, compete in the same events and on similar courses as used for World Cup and Olympic alpine skiing events. Slalom, giant slalom, super G and downhill are all included in this season’s schedule. Masters series are conducted within each of the eight geographic divisions including Alaska, Central, Eastern, Far West, Intermountain, Northern, Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain. Racers are welcome to travel and attend races in any division.

Mid-Atlantic Masters is a US Ski & Snowboard affiliated organization who conducts Masters races in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. We are are part of the Eastern Region which also includes New England Masters (NEMS), NY Masters (primarily Western NY) and Southern (SARA).

Who is Mid-Atlantic Masters?

Mid-Atlantic Masters Skiing, Inc., is a registered 501c3 non-profit corporation that administers the Foy Cup ski race series. We conduct most of our races as US Ski & Snowboard sanctioned races, and work closely as part of a Masters National Committee to influence rules, policies and to help grow the sport of Masters ski racing nationally.  Check out the complete set of groups and divisions that are part of the US Ski & Snowboard Masters Organization.

Mid-Atlantic Masters promotes, organizes, and runs amateur Masters alpine ski races in all disciplines, and fosters, encourages, promotes, and supports interest and participation in amateur Masters alpine ski racing at divisional, regional, and national levels of competition. We offer a season-long schedule of races and awards to the overall and class winners for men and women, and teams.  Mid-Atlantic Masters originated from the ASRA ski race organization, which was formed by John (A.J.) Foy.  With John’s retirement after 37 years, we reformed ASRA into a non-profit organization with the mission of promoting amateur alpine ski racing within a fun, social atmosphere.  Our motto is “Ski Fast and Have a Blast!”  Mid-Atlantic Masters hosts races from December through March in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.  We hold GS, SL, and SG races.  Points are awarded by finish position in each age category, and season champions are recognized at the Mid-Atlantic Masters Championships in March.  Teams are also scored at each race and for the overall team championship.

We welcome racers of all skill levels and racing experiences. Whether you are new to racing or have been racing for years, we encourage you to join us on the hill! Many of our racers are former junior or college racers, racing parents, NASTAR racers, or are skiers entirely new to racing but with a desire to learn. We welcome participants from other regions and divisions to join us as well as entire family participation. Above all, our primary goal is to have fun and enjoy ski racing at the same time! We hope to see you out on the hill this season!
