Montage Mountain Race Information

Montage Mountain Logo

Montage in Moosic, PA, is one of our most accessible venues for racers coming from Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley. We race both giant slalom and slalom on Switch, reached from the Iron Horse lift. Six hotels sit at the base of the entrance road, less than two miles from the parking lots, making this the easiest venue on our schedule to stay at the night before. The races we hold at Montage are the only non-U.S. Ski & Snowboard sanctioned races on our calendar, so they are great first race options for anyone who wants to give Masters racing a try without purchasing a USSS membership.

Racing at Montage: Common Questions

Which trail do we race?

Switch. Access it from the Iron Horse lift, which you reach by traversing the trail called Connection. The route to Iron Horse is not obvious from the base, so allow a few extra minutes before inspection your first time here, or ask an experienced racer to show you the way.

Do I need a lift ticket?

We price a discounted lift ticket into your race registration fee. If you have a season pass, we will deduct the cost of the lift ticket from your bill.

Where do I warm up, and how long is the lift ride?

Warm up on Spike or Upper Runaway. The Iron Horse lift spins in about six minutes.

Where should I stay?

Six hotels sit at the base of the entrance road, under two miles from the parking lots. If those are full or overpriced, Wilkes-Barre is twelve miles away with the same chains at lower rates.

Where do I find the start list and race schedule?

Start lists are posted on the Race Day Communications WhatsApp group, along with weather calls and any schedule changes. A detailed information sheet is coming soon. Second run (GS/SL) is reverse order within age class.

Is this a good venue for a first race?

Yes! Montage is one of our best first race venues because they hold the only non-U.S. Ski & Snowboard sanctioned events on our race schedule. The courses are still set to the same USSS Masters guidelines as our other races, but you don't need to purchase a USSS Masters license to participate. We also hold both a giant slalom and a slalom on the same day, so first time racers can get a taste of both disciplines with a single race fee.
