Hunter is our home hill in the Catskills, roughly two and a half hours from New York City, and the venue most Mid-Atlantic racers see most often. Beyond race weekends it hosts our January camp with Lisa Ballard and Monday morning Masters training all season. We race GS on Eisenhower and slalom on Lower Broadway. Tannersville and Windham, both a short drive away, have far more places to eat and sleep than the mountain road itself.

Racing at Hunter: Common Questions
Which trails do we race?
Giant slalom runs on Eisenhower and slalom on Lower Broadway.
Do I need a lift ticket?
Hunter offers 20% off to Epic pass holders — call the mountain directly to arrange it rather than expecting it at the window.
Where do I warm up, and how long is the lift ride?
TBD — add suggested warm-up trails and the race lift spin time, as on the Catamount, Montage and West Mountain pages.
Where should I stay?
Tannersville, about ten minutes away, is the closest town with lodging and restaurants within walking distance of each other. Saugerties, near Thruway exit 20, is roughly twenty-eight minutes out and has the chain hotels when the Catskills fill up. Racers frequently share rooms — email [email protected] and we will try to connect you with someone.
Where do I find the start list and race schedule?
Start lists are posted on the Race Day Communications WhatsApp group, along with weather calls and any schedule changes. A detailed information sheet is coming soon. Second run (GS/SL) is reverse order within age class.
Is this a good venue for a first race?
Yes. Hunter is our home hill, about two and a half hours from New York City, and you are likely to find the most familiar faces here of any venue on the schedule.
Can I train at Hunter outside race weekends?
Yes. Monday morning Masters training runs all season with limited drop-in spots each week, and our January camp with Lisa Ballard is held here. See race training opportunities for both.
